Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.

Physics

Class Format

Lecture and lab are integrated into one course grade. Prepared lecture notes are utilized as an outline for lecture and consist of numerous conceptual questions and problems that are worked through during class. Students are encouraged to work with others on the conceptual questions and problems during the lecture period. Demonstrations are used as a method of helping students understand the concepts. During the laboratory period, students work in a group setting and all are required to contribute.

Resource Use

A textbook is required in either hard copy or e-book form. Students are responsible for keeping up-to-date on the reading of the required material.

A scientific calculator is required in order to solve the vast majority of problems in the course. It should be brought to every class period.

Online homework is assigned through WebAssign.com. The problems on WebAssign are directly out of the required textbook for the course.

Assessment

4-5 regular exams + comprehensive final exam:  60% - 80% of grade depending on the course.
Homework + lab reports: 20% – 40% of grade depending on the course.

Homework Policy

Considering all homework is assigned online, late work is only accepted under extreme circumstances.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is not a part of your course grade but is greatly encouraged as students with quality attendance do better in my courses.

Availability

Posted office hours are noted at the beginning of each semester. Additional availability can be arranged by appointment.
