Terri Teal is on the music faculty at Johnson County Community College as a full-time professor, directing the Chamber Choir and MadRegalia.  These groups perform at least two concerts each semester. They also frequently participate with other area choirs and orchestras for larger works, most recently with the Village Church Choir and Orchestra performing Beethoven and Vaughan Williams. Several State of the College Addresses has featured one of these ensembles.  Dr. Teal also teaches the first year music theory and ear training classes. She served on the Educational Affairs committee for three years and chaired that committee in 2009-2010.  She also was an officer in the Faculty Association for three years. 

Dr. Teal's undergraduate degree is in voice performance.  She is a graduate of the University of North Texas State with a master’s degree in musicology.  Doctoral studies in choral conducting were with Professor Simon Carrington at the University of Kansas, where she held a choral assistantship for three years. 

Dr. Teal was the Music Director and Conductor of the Fine Arts Chorale, an auditioned semi-professional choir in Kansas City from 1992 - 1993.  The group was known for its innovative programming and has received many positive reviews in Kansas City for its performances. Lee Hartman, critic for the KCMetropolis online arts magazine, chose the Fine Arts Chorale's Patchwork Christmas concert (December 2010) as his most favorite local performance of the year. 

Dr. Teal was a singer in the critically acclaimed first annual Simon Carrington Singers concert. She sang professionally in Te Deum for three years until college responsibilities claimed that time.
