Michael Moreland is the director of the Recording Arts program at JCCC.  He is also a keyboard player, composer, songwriter, and owns and operates a recording studio, Hammerhead Audio. He holds degrees in Music Composition from the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has been teaching at Johnson County Community College since 1995, where he designed all of the music technology courses and established the Recording Arts program. He has had original classical music performed by the Kansas City Youth Symphony, The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, The New Ear Contemporary Music Ensemble, The Northland Symphony, and The University of Kansas New Music Ensemble.  His original song “Kansas City’s Got Jazz” is performed regularly by the Kansas City Youth Jazz bands. 

Michael is also an occasional performer in blues and jazz styles in the Kansas City area, most notably with the Wild Women of Kansas City.
