Teaching style
Engaging environment in which students gain language confidence and develop their conversational skills.

Homework, participation and attendance
Active participation expected, in-class activities, face-two-face and online video discussions, use of authentic cultural texts (news, movies, songs, etc.).

Tests and quizzes
One quiz per chapter, presentations and projects.

Background and other interests
Native from Ecuador. Ph. D. in Spanish Linguistics with an Emphasis in Second Language Acquisition from the University of California at Davis. M.A. in Latin American Literature and Cultural Studies from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Quito, Ecuador. Interest in Spanish in the U.S., heritage language development, and multilingual societies.
