Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.

Teaching style

Students are strongly encouraged to actively interact with the instructor and their classmates in Japanese as much as possible at all levels. Grammar will be explained in English if necessary. Classroom activities focus on speaking and listening skills. Writing skill in Japanese is required for all written exams, tests, and quizzes. Any questions related to the language or Japanese cultures are welcome in class.

Background and other interests

I was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan. I have been teaching Japanese at JCCC since 2017 after working as a graduate teaching assistant at KU for 5 years. I taught English for a few years in Japan before coming to the U.S. I enjoy teaching languages as much as learning them.
