What Will I Learn About Environmental Science?

Get hands-on learning in our state-of-the art labs when you study local environmental pollution and conduct lab experiments using samples from stream and prairie ecosystems. Answer “what if” questions as you create computer simulations with like-minded people.

Coursework will teach you:

Many of your courses at JCCC will seamlessly transfer to the University of Kansas – Edwards Campus to its Environmental Studies Bachelor of Science program. Baker University is also partnering with JCCC so students can get hands-on experience at the Baker Wetlands. Also, check out College Now opportunities available to area high school students.

If you’re curious about the Sunflower state and a history buff, our faculty are experts in giving you an in-depth survey of the plants and animals living on the prairie and the high plains. 

We also provide academic help, including access to textbooks and models, at JCCC’s Science Resource Center. Free tutoring is available every day.

A typical environment science job might include managing sustainable practices, geography, zoology, physics, ecology, oceanology or geology. You may also branch out into fields that encompass environmental engineering.
