Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.


Chemistry

Class Format

Face-to-face sections: The lecture involves the material presentation, problems solving all together and individual groups work on specific problems. PowerPoint slides of the lectures are provided approximately 24 hours before the lecture time and can be accessed thorough Desire2Learn site. Participation is strongly encouraged.    

Resource Use

Textbooks

Although the lecture slides are derived partially from the textbook, reading of textbook chapters before a lecture is highly advised.

Online homework

OWL 2 is the main source for homework. OWL 2 can be accessed through Desire2Learn site. The homework accounts for 10% of your final grade in the lecture portion of my class.

Assessment

For the Lecture part of my class, your final grade will be assessed as following:

Unit Exams = 60%

Final Exam = 20%

Quizzes/homework = 20%

For the Lab, the final grade will consists of the following items:

Lab Reports = 50%

Lab Quizzes/Pre-Labs = 30%  

Lab Final Test = 20%

Homework Policy

Late homework won’t be accepted. The due dates for OWL assignments are posted.

Attendance Policy

Chemistry is not an easy subject, and it requires a constant non-interrupted flow of learning; thus, students are highly advised to keep the attendance at 100%.

Availability

I am available through emails most of the time. I can also meet with a student personally after setting an appointment.
