Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.
Biology
Class Format
Face-to-face sections are typically moderately paced, whole group sessions with an emphasis on conceptual understanding. Real world examples and explanations help reinforce material from the textbook. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
Resource Use
Textbooks are essential to BIOL 130. The textbook supplements the lecture and provides further explanation for concepts discussed in class.
Assessment
All classes have five exams, a 10-page term paper and a final exam. Roughly 75% of the grade will be determined by the exams and 25% by the term paper.
Homework Policy
Due to fairness considerations, late work is NOT accepted.
Attendance Policy
Your absence may affect your grade because of your subsequent lack of knowledge and understanding. However, absences are NOT part of the grading formula. Make-up exams are permitted with the approval of the instructor in the case of illness or emergency.
