Bring ideas to life through immersive experiences

Learn essential, marketable skills in modeling, rigging, texturing, digital sculpting, animation, visual effects, and compositing to bring your ideas to life. Create characters, worlds, motion graphics, and visual effects with expert direction from experienced animators.

Are you thrilled with virtual and augmented reality and ready to learn the skills that create those worlds? JCCC has the software and hardware for that, too. Create your own virtual reality project for your portfolio.

Advanced Animation classes incorporate use of JCCC's 548-square-foot Motion Capture Studio. Sixteen cameras project infrared light onto markers on a special suit, and then those markers appear as coordinates within a powerful software program. The result is better animations in less time.

Use the same software and equipment as the animation pros

In just two years, you earn an associate degree that will set you up for a career in the exciting world of animation like animator, game art creator, 3D visual artist, or special effects artist. You can also use your skills in other industries including advertising, engineering, architecture, and health care.

Learn about animation outside of the classroom as well. These clubs, part of the more than 80 student clubs and organizations at JCCC, meet to bring together students just like you:

  • Animation Club — a club for students who want to be animators or who appreciate animation
  • Anime and Manga Club – attend area Anime conventions and share your love of this Asian-style animation
  • Video Game Club – play a variety of game systems, from GameCube to virtual reality, and just hang out

Explore transferring your degree to a four-year school to become an animation team lead or even start your own animation studio. JCCC Transfer Information and Services can help you transfer your JCCC credits to another school. Make an appointment with an Academic Counselor to explore your options.
