- Phlebotomy Technician
This 150-hour phlebotomy course will concentrate on both clinical and didactic phlebotomy and specimen collection.
Phlebotomists are responsible for drawing blood samples from patients and donors, and preparing the samples for clinical testing. JCCC’s phlebotomy course combines both classroom and clinical settings to prepare graduates for certification and employment.
After successfully passing clinicals and the final exam, you will be prepared to sit for the national certification test from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
During the phlebotomy course, you'll learn all aspects of phlebotomy in a healthcare setting, including:
- Collection procedures
- Safety guidelines
- Patient rights
- Test requirements
- Equipment basics
You'll be able to accurately:
- Perform venous collection
- Explain the proper steps for collection
- Identify the supplies needed for collection
Immunizations Required
Many of our affiliate rotation sites that students attend require proof of vaccination. All students entering a healthcare program such as health occupations will need to provide proof of various immunizations and/or immunity. Immunizations will be required before beginning the externship. Details will be provided during class. If you have any questions, please email cecoords@jccc.edu.
Background Check and Drug Screen
Students will be expected to pass a background check and a drug screen which will be reviewed prior to admission and must be submitted with your application to the program.
