Hiersteiner Child Development Center

The Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC) program is designed to support the efforts of JCCC students to pursue their educational goals and to offer support needed by JCCC faculty and staff to achieve their work potential.

HCDC is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation.

Eligibility

Enrollment is currently open to children of JCCC students, employees and the community.
We are licensed for children ages 1 and walking through age 6 by September 1. The center provides child education and care on a part- or full-time basis, with toddler early learning and preschool programs offered in the morning and afternoon.

Financial Assistance Available

The Child Care Assistance Grant is awarded to JCCC students at the beginning of fall and spring semesters. Applications may be obtained by contacting HCDC front desk staff at hcdc@jccc.edu or 913-469-4438.

HCDC has an Early Head Start partnership with The Family Conservancy to offer free child care to JCCC students as well as the community at large. Enrollment is available for children whose families meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have income below the federal poverty guideline; receive TANF or SSI; homeless; or children in foster care
  • Have child/ren ages: one and walking through two and a half years old
  • Reside in Johnson or Wyandotte County, Kansas
