- Around the corner: Summer lawn concerts

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Performing Arts Series at Johnson County Community College has booked three top-notch bands for its increasingly popular Light Up the Lawn concert series.
All three concerts will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays on the lawn of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Shows are FREE. Blankets, chairs and picnic baskets are welcome. (No alcohol, please). All three have ties to the Kansas City area.

The Rainmakers
The guitar power of Chuck Berry combined with the social wit of Mark Twain. A unique brand of Missouri rock n’ roll since 1986.
August 25
Maria the Mexican
Sisters Tess and Maria Cuevas blend Mariachi folklore with rock, blues, pop, soul and funk. (Rained out twice last year!)
September 1
Danielle Nicole
One of the Schnebelen siblings who founded KC band Trampled Under Foot, Danielle is now on her own with a New Orleans-flavored, blues-soul based sound.
