Learn While Serving Others

See how you can help

Go away, see the world—and earn college credit when you immerse yourself in a new culture with one of our many faculty-led or longer-term Study Abroad programs.

The First Step

Stop by the International Education Office, COM 220 or email us to learn about how to apply, our different programs, trip requirements, and opportunities for scholarships and financial aid.

Gain an entirely different worldview when you study abroad. JCCC’s accredited program offers 100 options in more than 50 countries.

Experience tremendous self-growth as you hear new languages, taste exotic foods and navigate a strange city. Learn cultural values and social norms firsthand from the people who live there.

The life skills you develop when seeing the world make real-life differences. Traveling abroad strengthens your ability to adapt. It teaches you to be more flexible and spontaneous with plans and day-to-day encounters.

These qualities make you a valuable candidate for jobs. Employers seek employees who can find common ground in conversation and adapt to ever-changing company and client needs.

Faculty-led and Longer-term Options

Faculty-led

Get an immersive experience with a time commitment of two weeks or less. Experienced, knowledgeable JCCC faculty lead these tour-style programs. Visit popular sites, interact with locals and gain a better understanding of the country’s social, political, economic and artistic cultures.

Longer-term

Get an even deeper experience when you study abroad for a full semester, over the summer or even a full year. You could earn 3 to 16 transferrable college credits.

Study Abroad can be affordable

JCCC can help make it happen. We offer scholarships specifically to help our students make this academic dream a reality.

Faculty-led trip fees include travel, transportation, lodging, tours and some meals. Longer-term programs are generally in partnership with sponsoring institutions that also have funding opportunities.

Safe, fun, life-changing

JCCC’s Study Abroad coordinators vet all faculty-led programs, and longer-term programs are developed, vetted and administered by accredited institutions to ensure academic quality as well as safety and security.

Study Abroad requirements

Each program has its own requirements which can include a minimum GPA. In general you need to be 18 or older with a valid U.S. passport book that won’t expire until at least six months after your program ends. Review the details of your chosen trip with a Study Abroad representative before you apply.

“I applied for as many scholarships as I could in hopes of getting a fully funded Study Abroad trip. I had no idea it would work as well as it did.”
