Every pixel has its place! Realizing that art reflects life, new generations of artists are moving beyond “traditional” media into the digital and mixed-media arenas.

What Will I Learn About Digital Imaging?

Digital fine art encompasses different styles, from Realism to Expressionism to Impressionism. It can mimic any medium, including oil paint, watercolors and acrylics. What distinguishes digital fine art is that it is created with technology.

At Johnson County Community College, you’ll concentrate on creating your own style using personal imagery.

Our Digital Imaging instructors will show you how this medium offers unlimited experimental possibilities. You’ll discuss with your mentors and peers how Digital Imaging is impacting traditional disciplines of painting, sculpture, printmaking and photography outside the wider cultural sphere of art.

Gain new insights on how to make expressive visual statements using computer technology. Our award-winning Fine Arts faculty will teach you how to:

  • Use specific imaging software
  • Demonstrate color manipulation
  • Create digital prints
  • Explore composition
  • Contemplate space and color relationships
  • Make aesthetic decisions autonomously
  • Critique artwork objectively

You’ll create a final portfolio highlighting your Digital Imaging work and personal expression.
