Would you like to care for people in need in their own homes? Take your Certified Nurse Aide skills to the next level when you earn this specialized certification in the Home Health Aide (HHA) program at Johnson County Community College.

What Will I Learn in JCCC's Home Health Aide Program?

JCCC’s Home Health Aide (HHA) program will give you the skills and information you need to care for the elderly, disabled or temporarily challenged in the comfort of their own homes.

In 21 contact hours, you’ll learn how to:

  • Help clients and their support team plan nutritious meals
  • Teach clients modified ways to safely perform daily tasks
  • Provide compassionate emotional support

Classes are scheduled on weekends to give you the flexibility you need. Once you successfully complete the three-week program, you’ll be ready to take the Kansas HHA Certification exam.

You must successfully complete a reading comprehension exam before admission. Please bring copies of your Social Security card and current Kansas CNA card to your first class.

HHAs are in hot demand to meet the needs of an aging population and increasing numbers of people living with chronic health conditions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a 38 percent increase in job opportunities by 2024—the highest growth potential of all nursing positions.
