Tutor availability & planning your visit

Here is a list of tutors that are scheduled to work every day in our resource center. Since the number of tutors scheduled directly correlates with our traffic during these times, it may help you plan your visits.

MRC outposts

MRC tutors are available at other locations as well. MRC tutors are available Mondays through Fridays (Summers: Mondays through Thursdays):

Layout and equipment

Main Study & Tutoring Area — Includes 9 large tables, 5 small tables and seating for 75.

Computer Room — The computer lab is equipped with specific math software as well as tutorials, spreadsheets, symbolic manipulators and graphers. There are also 24 Dell PCs on a local area network; headphone cables; one laser printer.

Group Study Rooms— Any group of three or more students may request to use one of the MRC group study rooms to study math together, if the room is not already reserved for another group. Reservations may be done in advance or on an impromptu basis.

Group Study Room #1 (Same size and equipment as Room #2) — It includes a large white board and a smart board, and seats 10 comfortably. 

Group Study Room #2 (Same size and equipment as Room #1) — It includes a large white board and a smart board, and seats 10 comfortably. 

Group Study Room #3 (Smaller than #1 & 2)  It includes 2 medium white boards and seats 6 comfortably.

Quiet Room  Is used for quiet study only. No talking is allowed in this room. There are 9 study carrels.

Receptionist Area  Includes student login computer, resource and equipment check-out and returns and room reservations.

Tutor qualifications

We have two levels of tutors at the Math Resource Center with specific requirements for each. 

  • Tutors must have successfully completed Calculus II (MATH 242). No prior tutoring experience is necessary.
  • Senior Tutors must have at least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience, must have a bachelor's degree in Math, Math Education or a related field with successful completion of 21 credit hours in Calculus I and above, and must be able to tutor Calculus II and above.

All tutors must be comfortable with computers and graphing calculators.
