If you have a general question, you can reach out by email or IM for an answer.

Email Advising 

  • Send a message from your stumail email to our email advisor. Allow one to two business days for a response.

IM Advising

  • IM advising is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, but availability may vary depending on traffic in the Success Center.
  • Student account information must be emailed or discussed in person and can't be sent by IM. Send an email instead.
  • When crafting your message to the IM advisor, your username can be your true name or an alias.
  • After you type a question into the dialog box, wait for the counselor to respond. It may take a few seconds for the counselor to read through your question and gather up information to respond.
  • If your message is not being answered during our available hours, please refresh your page and try again.
  • Be polite and let the IM counselor know when your question has been answered or if you need to end the session.

Walk-ins

If you have an urgent issue that must be resolved ASAP, or if you are dealing with an academic or personal crisis, stop by the Success Center on the second floor of the Student Center during counseling hours and request a walk-in appointment.
