- Bob Drummond submits resignation from JCCC board of trustees
February 22, 2016
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Bob Drummond has submitted his resignation from Johnson County Community College board of trustees. The trustees will consider his resignation at their regular monthly meeting on March 24th, 2016.
Drummond has been a college trustee from 2009 to 2013 and October 2013 (appointed) to current. He was acting board treasurer from 2010 – 2012 and board secretary 2015 – 2016. Over the years he has served on the board’s management and human resources committees and as a liaison to the JCCC collegial steering committee.
Drummond stated, “This has not been an easy decision to reach because I have spent most of my career in education. However, as I am concluding my 25th year in elected office, it is proper that I step aside so another Johnson County citizen can have the same honor that I have been blessed to hold.”
“Bob Drummond has been a fixture in Johnson County education for over 25 years,” said Greg Musil, board chair. “He has sacrificed time, energy and treasure to help ensure our public education system is the best it can be. This Board, this College, and Johnson County as a whole will miss Bob’s insight and his calm and reasonable approach to often controversial issues. He has been the type of public servant we need in government.”
“Trustee Drummond personifies public service. His commitment to education in Johnson County is without parallel. He will be missed by everyone,” said Joe Sopcich, President at JCCC.
The trustees will appoint someone to complete the rest of Drummond’s term, which ends January 2018. Interested persons will be invited to submit an application to the college. The board will review the applications and narrow them to a list of final candidates. Those candidates will be interviewed, and one will be chosen to fill the seat on the board. The exact timeline and process has not yet been finalized; when it has, it will be announced and the vacancy will be posted.###
