OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College has been selected as one of six national finalists for the community college division of the 2016 Climate Leadership Awards.

Sponsored by Second Nature and the U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools, the Climate Leadership Awards recognize innovative and advanced leadership in sustainability and climate mitigation.

Schools are judged on demonstrated advances in innovation, embedded opportunities and student preparedness with relation to sustainability and climate action.

Two winners will be chosen in September from the finalist pool of 19 higher education institutions. The winners will be invited to attend Greenbuild Leadership Awards ceremony in October. The awards celebration is part of the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Los Angeles.
