Through philanthropic partnerships with generous donors, the JCCC Foundation supports student scholarships and basic needs, academic and educational programs, and cultural arts at the College.

During the past year, donors established 13 new scholarships for JCCC students.

The Beate Pettigrew Theatrical Stage Directing Scholarship was established by longtime JCCC faculty member Beate Pettigrew to support students in JCCC's Theatre program.

The Ken and Beth Richards Education Matters Scholarship was established by JCCC alumna Taylor Richards to assist GED® graduates continuing their education at JCCC.

The Elizabeth J. Dillon Scholarship was established in memory of Elizabeth Dillon, a longtime nursing faculty member, supporting students entering the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) field at JCCC.

Community Collaborations

The JCCC Foundation partnered with many community organizations to help address critical needs.

The Heart of America Patriot Foundation's generous support of the JCCC Foundation has established three scholarships for student veterans and dependents of 100% disabled or deceased veterans.

A partnership with Hispanic Development Fund of KC established a new trades/certificate scholarship program.

The JCCC Foundation continued its support for the CCAMPIS program, providing financial support for students with children enrolled in our state-licensed and nationally accredited Hiersteiner Child Development Center.

In partnership with the Olathe School District, the Kansas CTE Scholars Scholarship provides opportunities for local high school students designated as Kansas CTE Scholars.

Legacy Gifts Increase Impact

The JCCC Foundation was the grateful beneficiary of multiple legacy gifts from members of our Society for Excellence.

Major gifts from the Estate of Eleanor Lowe and the Clifford H. Wormcke Trust will have a multigenerational impact on JCCC students.

The JCCC Foundation's annual black-tie gala Some Enchanted Evening was transformed to Some Enchanted Opportunity and successfully raised more than $1 million for scholarships and student basic needs.

Beyond Bounds 2020 - Envision

Beyond Bounds 20/20–ENVISION

The reimagined art auction and gala was held virtually and set a new record, raising more than $317,000 benefiting the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.

More than $135,000 was contributed in gifts, grants and sponsorships to support performing arts programming and education offered through the Midwest Trust Center.

Responding to Challenges

When needed most, the JCCC Foundation assisted our campus community in innovative ways including:

• Funding for the purchase of at-home lab kits for students

• Funding the purchase of new laptops for JCCC’s Loaner Laptop Program

• Creation of the JCCC Foundation COVID-19 Response Scholarship for students facing financial hardship
