After working in Washington for 25 years as an administrative assistant to three different members of Congress, Richard Bond entered state politics in 1986, when he was appointed to the Kansas Senate. Sen. Dick Bond has long been one of the county’s strongest advocates for education.

He has served in leadership positions with Johnson County United Community Services, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, Shawnee Mission Hospital Foundation, YMCA, Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Kaw Valley Children’s Center.
