JCCC has a lineup of ‘starters’ to help you succeed

JCCC has a talented team of fellow students and professionals — from tour guides to financial aid coaches — who will put the ball in your court.

Take a Tour Before You Enroll

Student Admissions Ambassadors will show you around campus and answer your questions about student services and academic programs. If you’d like to visit a specific area or program, mention it when scheduling and your Admissions Ambassador can make it happen.

JCCC Cav Leaders will be the first students you meet on a campus tour. Feel free to ask questions about campus life and student involvement. If you’ve enrolled in courses, you can even schedule a “Find Your Class” tour where a Cav Leader will help you find each classroom, plus prime spots for studying, snacking and collaborating. By the end of this experience, you’ll feel confident navigating campus.

Counselors Will Get You Started

Once you’ve enrolled, your next step is to meet with a counselor. JCCC counselors serve two roles — academic and personal counseling. Academic counseling will help you find the resources to enroll, receive coursework help, get involved on campus, change your major and seamlessly transfer credits. It will be your go-to source.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need to talk, personal counseling will offer a compassionate ear in a safe and confidential environment. Counselors will advocate for you and make referrals to appropriate agencies when needed.

Success Advocates Coach First-Year Students

To help you navigate your first year at JCCC, you’ll be paired with a Success Advocate. Like the name implies, a Success Advocate’s job is to make sure your first two semesters are a positive experience. If you’re struggling with a class, your advocate will help you find a tutor. If you’d like to get involved on campus, your advocate can point you to student clubs and organizations. If you’re ready to start earning money, your advocate will help you create a résumé and apply to jobs. Your Success Advocate can help with anything you can think of for a great first year.

Financial Aid Can Be a Game-Changer

Scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work-Study are all sources that can help pay your college bills. Financial Aid staff are ready to walk you through the FAFSA process and JCCC scholarships. Call 913-469-3840 or visit the 2nd floor Student Center office during regular office hours. You can even jump on a quick call in the Financial Aid Zoom Room Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Extracurricular FUN

Student Life Ambassadors are hard at work programming events like Cav Craze and the Clubs and Orgs Fair so that you can find your niche or hobby. With nearly 100 clubs and organizations, you’re sure to find your perfect fit.

Enrollment Made Easy

A Student Development Specialist is your go-to for procedures, resources, technology and College policies. You’ll gain confidence in navigating JCCC processes from admission through graduation.

Access Services Applies Strategy

If you need classroom accommodations and services, Access Services Advisors are here to help. You could be eligible for testing accommodations, note-taking assistance, sign language interpreting services, audiobooks, assistive technology or other specific services.
