All our resource centers have expanded online services to help you succeed – wherever you are.

Student resources: Two little words that pack a lot of punch.

When it comes to student resources, Johnson County Community College is not your typical campus. At JCCC, significant emphasis is placed on giving students tools to get ahead and stay ahead.

JCCC’s new state-of-the-art Academic Resource Center, located in Billington Library, first floor, is your one-stop shop for free tutoring and class assistance available to all JCCC students. It has a large study area, library assistants who can direct you, and the trendy Stacks Café, serving coffee and snacks. Check the Stacks Café hours and menu.

In-person services are currently by appointment, but you can still get help online.

Math Resource Center

If you are currently enrolled in a credit class at JCCC, tutors at the Math Resource Center are ready to tackle problems and tough concepts with you. Online tutoring is open for drop-in tutoring during our normal service hours. Email mrc@jccc.edu to schedule a face-to-face appointment.

Academic Achievement Center

The Academic Achievement Center – better known as the AAC – is a welcoming space to improve your ability and readiness to learn. Online weekly tutoring by appointment is at your fingertips in just about any subject, including basic math, science and writing, with study skills support. Try it; you’ll be amazed at your progress. Getting started is simple – fill out this Tutor Request Form.

Learning Specialists are on hand and online to talk about time management or test preparation and to solve Canvas or course-related issues, or you can sign up for a Smart Start academic orientation workshop. Keep your semester on track!

Our experienced and friendly Reading Specialists can also help you succeed and build confidence. No appointment is needed. Email your questions to readingspecialist@jccc.edu.

Science Resource Center

If you are in a science or health science course at JCCC or need help with science content in any other course, Science Resource Center tutors can help. Online tutoring is available via Zoom for a quick question and for scheduled tutoring sessions by appointment. Tutors are available seven days a week online, and in person by appointment during weekdays. For appointments and other questions, email src@jccc.edu.

Writing Center

Staring at a blank page? Unsure how to create a works cited? Need help establishing a thesis statement? The Writing Center provides a variety of services aimed at helping you polish your writing skills in all subjects.

Make an online or in-person appointment with a Tutor or Writing Specialist for individualized feedback on your writing. Determine your grammar knowledge or work to build your skills through self-paced assessments and modules. Browse over 100 guides covering topics such as parts of speech, mechanics and citing sources.

Language Resource Center

Working on a second (or third) language? It can be tough! View the LRC tutoring schedule to see when our American Sign Language, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish tutors are available to help you.

Billington Library

Librarians and library staff provide access to a variety of services and resources that support student and faculty research needs both on campus and online. On the first floor, a reference librarian can help with those research needs, and library assistants can make student ID cards, accept returning books or renew them. They can also help you with over a dozen open computers and printers, or book a study room. On the second floor, you can access the library’s circulating collection, check out books and other items, check in returning items, find study space including booking a study room, and access PC or Mac workstations.

From the Billington Library website, you can search our extensive content, request books, view full-text articles and e-books, chat with a librarian, or schedule an individual appointment with a librarian to meet online or in person.

What are you waiting for?
