Join us for a virtual exploration as JCCC faculty tell us about the countries of future Study Abroad trips.

Costa Rica is known for being a beautiful and accessible tourist destination featuring lush rainforests and pristine beaches. Up to 28% of its land is held as protected areas and it is also a significant source of coffee and cacao imported into the U.S. Steven Giambrone, Professor of Biology, and Michelle Riley, Associate Professor of Dietary Management, will discuss their recent trip that taught them about production and processing of these two economically important (and delicious!) crops.

Virtually visit the Caribbean island of Martinique with John Harty, Associate Professor of Geosciences, and Eric Elisabeth, Professor of Chemistry. Martinique is known for its blend of cultures and its great food. Harty and Elisabeth visited Martinique during Kansas City’s winter (a homecoming of sorts for Elisabeth, whose mother grew up there), and they have much to say about the island’s charms.

This event is part of Explore the World Global Speaker Series. All are free and open to the public. RSVP to as many as you like. You will receive a Zoom link prior to each presentation.
