Kick off Juneteenth with this award-winning author.


The College has invited this renowned City University of New York (CUNY) professor to give a virtual presentation to JCCC faculty, staff, students, and the community. “Malcolm X: The Man and Father Away From the Podium,” will be followed by a Q&A moderated by JCCC’s Black Student Union.

Shabazz is an award-winning author, educator, and producer. She has authored five historical novels and has served as project advisor for the PBS award-winning “Prince Among Slaves” documentary. She is Co-Chairperson of the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center. In her work to preserve the legacy of her parents, she has dedicated herself to institution building and intergenerational leadership development with the tenets of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
