Meet Academy Award winner and KU Professor Kevin Willmott.


JCCC’s Black Student Union and the Kansas Studies Institute are thrilled to announce a very special campus event featuring Academy Award winner, KU Professor and Kansas native Kevin Willmott.  

Meet the award-winning screenplay writer and learn about his career in the filmmaking industry and issues that people of color face in the film/entertainment industries. Willmott will answer your questions and provide inspiration.

Throughout his career, Willmott has focused on black issues. Films he has written and directed include Ninth Street, C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America, Bunker HillChi-Raq, The Only Good Indian and BlacKkKlansman, for which he won a 2019 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay with Spike Lee.
