Federal COVID-19 relief and benefits are available for JCCC students

Students may qualify for the following federal programs and benefits due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you’re eligible to apply and have not completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we can help!

COVID-19 Relief Fund

Federal government funding has been allocated to assist students with covering expenses and to help alleviate financial hardship. Learn about the minimum requirements to apply.


Emergency Broadband Benefit

Students and families who are struggling to afford internet service may be eligible for a discount for monthly broadband services and a one-time discount toward equipment purchases. Learn more and apply.


Financial Aid Professional Judgment

Have you or your family experienced financial difficulties including income loss or extreme medical expenses?  If your financial situation now is different than it was when you filed the FAFSA, you could qualify for special considerations. Contact the Financial Aid Office for a review of your situation.


SNAP Expansion for Students

Students who have completed the FAFSA and have a $0 Expected Family Contribution (EFC) OR qualify for the Federal Work-Study Program may now be eligible for federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. For assistance applying for SNAP, contact our Student Basic Needs Center. 


Ongoing Student Assistance for All JCCC students

Any JCCC student and their immediate family who are in need of assistance are always welcome at the Student Basic Needs Center in COM 319. Whether you need support with rent, groceries or more, the Center provides information and resources to help meet your needs, including:

  • Food, personal care items and school supplies from the Cav Cupboard pantry
  • Information and application assistance for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Housing and transportation information and resources — and help accessing other social services
  • Computer laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots through the Equipment Loan Program
  • Help with housing and utility expenses through the JCCC Student Assistance Fund

The Student Basic Needs Center in COM 319 is open Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
