- Course Qualifications
You will need to qualify for this course, either by ACT math score or the JCCC placement exam.
Admission Application
If you have not taken a class at the college within the last two years, you will need to apply for admission to obtain your JCCC student ID. The application is free and can be done online in less than 10 minutes. You will receive an email confirmation with your JCCC ID number.
ACT Score
An ACT math score of 22 or higher confirms your eligibility for this course. This score must be officially submitted to our records office, or your high school counselor may submit a copy of your high school transcript indicating the score.
JCCC Placement Test
If you do not have a qualifying ACT score, you can take our placement exam.
The exam is free and no appointment is needed. This placement test is administered in the JCCC Testing Center, SC 334. It is an untimed, computerized exam designed to determine your current level of understanding in math.
Many high schools prepare students for the placement exam during the first few weeks of the school year. Practice test questions by using the online math placement review.
The placement exam will stop automatically and generate a report which Testing Center personnel will interpret, informing the student if he or she has qualified. Students are permitted an initial attempt and once per semester; all attempts must be completed before the Quick Step Plus College Algebra enrollment deadline.
Students should bring to the Testing Center only a photo ID, JCCC ID number and pencils. A calculator is provided within the test when needed. No cellphones are allowed.
