Teaching style
For all courses I use the blackboard a lot, speak Spanish as much as possible (varies depending on the level) and interacting frequently with students during each class. 

Homework, participation and attendance
Participation and attendance is 15% of the total grade  I give many quizzes to help students “study along the way.”  Students need to dedicate about one to one-and-a-half  hours outside of class for each hour of class time. I try to be as flexible as possible with students.

Tests and quizzes
Chapter Tests are 30% of the total grade, there is also a midterm exam (10%), final exam (15%) and an oral exam (10%). Make up exams are allowed under special circumstances. 

Background and other interests
I am from Spain and spent 10 years working in Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua). I was a Spanish teacher in Spain before coming to the United States in 2000.
