The proximity of our research sites to the college provides an opportunity for a varied schedule of activities. Seminars will be held on the JCCC campus during the first two weeks of the field school (June 4 through June 15). Condensed coursework will provide context for the fieldwork to follow. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Field trips are planned for the first two Fridays of the season (June 8 and June 15). Friday schedules are tentatively planned to begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by 6 p.m.

Fieldwork will run from June 18 through July 13. To comply with the college liability policy, students will be driven to the site in a college vehicle. Students are expected to meet at the college by 7:00 AM and will be returned to the college no later than 4 p.m..

The final week of the summer session will be dedicated to laboratory analysis and final write up of the investigations. Analysis and write up take place on the JCCC campus from July 16 through July 20. Analysis will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude most days by 4 p.m.

Of course, field schools are never all work and no play! We will schedule a number of social events, cookouts and an open house throughout the field season.
