- Blue Saver - High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Preferred-Care Blue PPO BlueSaver Plan is an HDHP medical option that allows you the freedom to choose any provider you want.
Group # 14092000
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Preferred-Care Blue PPO BlueSaver Plan is an HDHP medical option that allows you the freedom to choose any provider you want. The HDHP option complies with government regulations allowing you to open an associated Health Savings Account (HSA).
In return for a higher deductible amount, you pay a lower monthly premium.
The calendar year deductible for this option is:
- $2,800 per individual – $5,600 family maximum coverage for in-network services, and
- $5,500 per individual – $11,200 family maximum for out-of-network services
- $2,800 per individual – $5,600 family maximum for in-network services, and
- $14,000 per individual – $28,000 family maximum for out-of-network services
With the HDHP, you have access to the same comprehensive network of hospitals, doctors and
ancillary medical services available under the Preferred Care PPO medical plan option.
Additionally, you have access to a free service called Alight Health Pro to help you make sense of
confusing healthcare benefits, find great doctors, help lower benefit costs or assist with solving
billing issues. Alight provisions are detailed here.
Using HDHP in-network providers allows you to enjoy the highest level of benefits and
substantial savings. If your physician is not in the network, you can continue to go to your family
doctor with confidence, knowing 80% of the negotiated allowable charge will be covered, after
the deductible is satisfied.
The college has automated payroll deduction capability to allow you to make pre-tax deductions to a UMB Bank HSA, to be used to accumulate funds to pay your out-of-pocket health care costs. You can find more information on an HSA here, Health Savings Account.
You can use the college's Health Benefit Plan Summary to learn more about the HDHP and compare the other medical options available to you.
