The Hugh L. Libby Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) creates a career and technical neighborhood by bringing together current automotive, engineering and electrical technology programs with new workforce development curriculum, including:
- Automation Engineer Technology
- Automotive Technology
- Electrical Technology
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology
- Plumbing Certificates
With 69,000 square feet and 14 labs, the new facility means JCCC can offer more classes, more personalized training and additional upgraded machinery to students in both credit and continuing education courses.
The open, modular design allows departments to be flexible and respond quickly with course offerings in new areas, such as robotics and advanced manufacturing, to better meet changing workforce needs.
Look for JCCC students like Mark Pfannenstiel to be in the new facility in 2019. Pfannenstiel, a Metal Fabrication student, especially appreciates the lab work.
"I’ve loved getting out into the booth and putting what I’ve learned in the classroom to use,” he says. “There’s only so much you can learn in a classroom, especially in this type of field, where it is very much a hands-on process."
