Writing Center
You may bring in writing assignments and get individualized feedback about your drafts.
Tutors are trained to read the essays for organization and development.
If you need to work on your proofreading skills, you may take an assessment test to determine your ability to find mechanical errors, or you can bring in a graded paper and tutors will help you correct your errors.
In addition, we offer handouts, resource manuals, and computer software to help you discover the best format and organization for your writing.
Other ways to access the Writing Center for help:
- Through the online writing lab
- Via the grammar hotline
- Using instant messaging
- By taking Writing Center courses
We want you to become an effective, independent writer. By working hard and taking advantage of all the Writing Center resources -- book, handouts, software, sample papers and tutoring sessions -- you can improve your writing skills.
Please understand that you will never leave the Writing Center with a perfect paper unless you walked in with a perfect paper. However, you should leave each tutoring session with a greater understanding of how to improve your writing.
If you have any questions or concerns call or email Kathryn Byrne or 913-469-8500, ext 3497.
