JCCC Veterans Club

The Veteran’s Club is an inclusive, non-partisan group that supports all JCCC students connected to military services, active duty, veterans, reserve, guard and their dependents.

The club's goal is to provide social activities, opportunities to participate in community service, further the advancement of veterans in higher education, and networking for jobs.

The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month during the semester from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the In Focus Dining Room located next to Dining Down Under in the Commons building. At our meetings we often have lunch provided.  In addition to guest speakers, we discuss upcoming events that include anything from social activities to fundraisers and community outreach opportunities.

The current Veteran’s Club Officers are:

President:  Chris Hinds
Vice President:  Larry Nickerson
Treasurer/Secretary:  Hedilbert Chee

Student Veterans of America (SVA)

Johnson County Community College’s Veteran’s Club is an official Chapter Member of the SVA which works to provide veterans with resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and post-graduation.  The SVA works closely with the Dept. of Veterans Administration (VA) as well as the Government to provide the best possible options to the countries growing veteran population as they transition from their service to the civilian world and going back to school.

The SVA also works with many businesses and the government pushing to make hiring veterans a priority, although their primary focus is on education.

The SVA hosts an Annual National Conference, This year's conference will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona.  The Club will be working on fundraisers to attend the convention and invites you to be a part of this exciting opportunity!
