President
Name: Georgia (Gina) Galanou
Hometown: Athens, Greece
Major: Psychology
Senate Committees: Scholarship, Service and Fundraising, Budget, Foundation, Council
About me: I have been a Student Senator since 2010, which was my first year as a JCCC student. I am also involved in many other clubs and organizations, such as the International Club and Phi Theta Kappa. I have graduated from the Cavalier Leadership Development program, which was a great opportunity to enhance my leadership skills and motivated me to expand my effort in helping students to get the most out of their experience at JCCC. I am very passionate about helping others, very organized, and hardworking. This year I am hoping to expand upon our cooperation with the various clubs and organizations. I am looking forward to working with students in order to help the JCCC community. Student Senate will reach out to the JCCC students, faculty, and stuff in order to try and meet their every need. The Student Senate is a family for every student on the JCCC campus, and I hope that, with student cooperation and the Senate’s hard work, we will have a productive and exciting academic year.
Vice-President
Name: Erick Mbembati
Hometown: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
Major: Pharmacy
Senate Committees: Inter-Club Council, Service and Fundraising, Dollars for Scholars
About me: This is my third year here at JCCC. I am the former Vice President of International Club and am now the current President of International Club. I have served as a Senator for two semesters. My major goal is to reach out to students by using the Center for Student Involvement and strengthen our clubs and organizations. The key function will be putting the Senate in a listening position, getting new ideas from the clubs, and working on those ideas to create an interactive and fun learning environment. At large, both the college and students will gain from this mutual relationship.
