Students, if you are enrolled in at least one credit class at Johnson County Community College, you now have access to Microsoft Office software – all for free for as long as you remain enrolled at JCCC.

The software in question is one of the most widely used and in-demand programs in the nation. For PCs, the package includes access to:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Access
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • OneNote
  • Outlook
  • Publisher
  • Lync

For Macs, the package includes:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint

Fees for such products can range from $100 to $300, even with student discounts, but all fees are waived thanks to the Microsoft Student Advantage program. This program allows you to download and install a version of Microsoft Office called Office 365 Pro Plus.

You must connect to the Internet once every 30 days to verify you are still eligible for the program. If you graduate or are no longer enrolled for credit courses, you will lose your free license after one academic year (3 semesters) of non-enrollment.

When the license expires, you still can read your files (since you retain read-only access to Microsoft Office documents). You just won’t be able to edit them or create new ones. At that point, you may choose to reactivate a personally licensed copy of Microsoft Office or buy your own copy, available for sale online or at software retailers.

Getting your free student copy of Microsoft Office is simple; follow these instructions.
