Reading Department
The reading department offers introductory and college level reading classes to help you improve your reading skills.
- To find out if you need to take these courses, you will need to take the COMPASS assessment test. This test is done by Testing Services.
- If your score places you in Fundamentals of Reading (RDG 125), you will need to take that class. You can still enroll in other classes, but RDG 125 must be one of them.
- When you have passed RDG 125, you can take the COMPASS test again to see if you get a higher score. If you don't, you will need to take Reading Skills Improvement (RDG 126) right after you finish RDG 125.
If you need to drop a required reading class, you must drop all other classes you might be in. You can talk to an academic counselor to ask for permission to drop only the reading class.
