W. Basketball - No. 12 JCCC ends two-game skid

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No 12 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 87-54 victory at Fort Scott Community College Wednesday night. Thirty of the Lady Cavaliers 33-point margin of victory came in the second and fourth quarters. 

Sophomore guard Tristen McFeders led Johnson County with 22 points. She hit 8-of-17 shots, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range, and hit a pair of free throws. 

Also finishing in double figures were sophomore guard Cerena Reeves with 15, sophomore guard Kylee Williams with14 and freshman center Juella Brown with 10. Brown was the games’s top rebounder with seven. 

As a team, the Lady Cavaliers shot an impressive 52 percent from the field  and 46 percent beyond the 3-point line.  Defensively, JCCC held the Greyhounds to 35 percent and 27 percent respectively. 

Fort Scott had only one player reach double digits, with Jada Perry finishing with 14 points. 

Johnson County now stands 22-7 overall and closes out its regular season at Hesston College on Saturday, Feb. 24. The Region VI playoffs begin on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
