M. Basketball - Lupardus named NJCAA D-II Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Anthony Lupardus has been selected the Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II Player of the Week four times this season, but on Wednesday, he was selected the national Player of the Week by the NJCAA for the first time this season.

Lupardus had an outstanding week for the Cavaliers. He averaged 34.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals while leading the Cavaliers to a pair of victories. He shot 64 percent from the field, 68 percent beyond the 3-point line and 92 percent at the line. Lupardus opened the week by tying his career high with 30 points and six 3-pointers in an 84-55 road win at Washburn JV. Two days later he established a new career high after pouring in 39 points in a 106-90 home victory over Ottawa JV. Lupardus also tied a school record making nine 3-point baskets.

Lupardus is off to a strong start this week too. In an 87-52 home win over Kansas City Kansas on Wednesday night, he poured in 15 points to go along with six assists, five steals and four rebounds.
