M. Basketball - Lupardus' 39 points propel Cavaliers to 106-90 win

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Anthony Lupardus scored a career-high 39 points as the Cavaliers (8-12) earned a 106-90 victory over Ottawa University JV on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, Johnson County head coach Mike Jeffers was not on the sideline to witness his outstanding performance. He was sidelined with a minor medical issue, but he should be back coaching his team Wednesday night when the Cavaliers open region play against Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Lupardus shot 79 percent from the floor, hitting 11-of-14 shots, including nine 3-pointers, which ties the single-game record at JCCC. He was also a perfect 8-of-8 at the line, and he snagged five rebounds to go along with five assists and three steals.

Two days earlier, Lupardus matched his career high of 30 points to lead the Cavaliers to an 84-55 win at Washburn University JV.

Sophomore wing Marquawn Wilson posted his third double-double if the last four games, finishing with 12 points and 10 board. He also led the team with six assists.

Freshman forward Xavier Womack finished with 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and sophomore guard Mat Baldeh continued his strong play off the bench, posting 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
