W. Basketball - Johnson County easily handles Fort Scott

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 10th ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team put on a defensive display in an 89-30 win over Fort Scott Community College Saturday afternoon. The Lady Cavaliers held Fort Scott to single digits in each quarter and to just 20 percent shooting from the field for the game.

Johnson County was just the opposite. They made 56 percent of their shots, including 61 percent behind the 3-point line. Leading the attack was reserve guard Sydny Jones. She contributed a season high 16 points off the bench, along with four rebounds and team-high six assists. Jones was 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 5-of-7 overall.                                      

Also reaching double figures were sophomores Tristen McFeders and Cerena Reeves. McFeders finished with 15 points and Reeves posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. It was her fifth double-double of the season.

Sophomore Kylee Williams knocked down three treys to up her career total to 162, just five behind the all-time second place leader in team history.

Johnson County (19-5) will host Hesston College on Wednesday, Feb. 7, and closes out the week with a conference match up at Kansas City Kansas on Saturday, Feb. 10.
