W. Track - JCCC produces all-conference performances in three events

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College women’s track and field team produced All-East Jayhawk Conference recognition in three events at the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference/Region VI Championships last weekend in Manhattan, Kan.

Freshman thrower Katlyn Hendrickson recorded a personal-best throw in the weight throw with a mark of 41-3 (12.57m) to earn a third place finish and third-team all-conference honors.

In the pole vault, freshman Dayan Morales cleared 9-feet, 6.25-inches (2.90m) to finish in third place, and garner third-team all-conference. That effort also was good for fifth place in the Region VI standings.

The Lady Cavaliers 4x800 relay of sophomores Yulissa DelaTorre and Jessalyn Rivet-Tissot and freshmen Jacinta King and Emma Stimatze raced to a third-team all-conference honors with a third place finish and a time of 10:47.40. That performance also put them in sixth place in the region.

Rivet-Tissot and King also scored conference points in the mile run. Rivet-Tissot placed sixth with a time of 5:52.40, and King was eighth with a time of 6:27.17.

DelaTorre accounted for three points with her sixth place effort in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 11:40.68.

Freshman Ce’onna Gatlin got on the board with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meters. She posted a time of 28.48.
