M. Soccer - JCCC opens season with thrilling OT win

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men’s soccer team opened its 2018 campaign with a come-from-behind 2-1 overtime victory over Crowder College Wednesday at the JCCC soccer complex.

Freshman Axxel Chazaro fired a pass from the right side of the box to the left foot of freshman George Quinly for the walk-off winner 7:06 into the overtime period.  

Chazaro netted JCCC’s first goal at 25:05 in the first half to tie the game a 1-1. Sophomore Sung Min Cho, the team’s MVP last season, provided the assist. 

Crowder took an early 1-0 lead at the 7:10 mark on a goal by Danny Lindo off a corner kick feed by Alex Balderas. 

JCCC freshman goalkeeper Pedro Henrique Isvaskoski saved 10 of the 11 shots he faced to notched his first collegiate win. 

The Cavaliers will play on the road twice this weekend. The face Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., on Saturday, Aug. 25, then travel to Belleville, Ill., for a Sunday match at Southwestern Illinois College. They return home to host East Central College on Friday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m.
