W. Basketball - Elston's triple-double powers JCCC to a 34-point win

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Behind 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists from freshman guard Paige Elston, Johnson County Community College improved to 15-4 with an 89-55 road win over Missouri Valley College JV on Tuesday night. She joins alumnae LorI Hetter (1989), Sommer Easterwood (2000) and Erica Nelson (2016) as the only players to finish with a triple-double in team history.

The Lady Cavaliers shot 55 percent from the floor against Missouri Valley and had four other players finish in double digits. The top two scorers were sophomore Kylee Williams and freshman Jacionna Stowers each with 15 points. They combined to hit 10-of-19 3-pointers.

Williams five treys moved into third place all-time with 152 career 3-pointer made. She set the season mark last year with 105. 

Stowers leads the team and the conference with 71 made threes. She also is hitting 47 percent of her attempts beyond the arch, also best in the KJCCC.

Also finishing in double digits were sophomore Tristen McFeders with 14 and freshman Kylie Woods with a season high 13. Woods also grabbed 10 rebounds to register her first double-double of her career.

Johnson County travels to Topeka to face Washburn University JV tonight before opening conference play at home next Wednesday, Jan. 24 against Kansas City Kansas Community College.
