Baseball - Cavaliers explode for 16 runs in game two against Rockhurst JV

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College ripped 15 hits, 10 which went for extra bases, and plated 16 runs in the second game of the double header with Rockhurst JV, Thursday evening.

The Cavaliers scored two in the second, five in the third, seven and fourth and two in fifth before the Hawks were able to get on the board. The final scored was 16-5.

Ty Herrenbruck and Matt Johnson each belted solo home runs. Herrenbruck also drove in two other runs to give three RBI in the game.

Blake Shannon, Jake Karst and Connor Schumacher each ripped triples. Shannon and Karst also hit doubles. Shannon drove in a game-high four runs.  Chaz Burgess collected a double and Brian Sullivan hit two and drove in two.

Johnson County is scheduled to host Baker University JV on Monday, Feb. 12. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.  The Cavaliers follow with a four-game home series against Ellsworth Community College Friday-Sunday, Feb. 16-18.
