W. Soccer - Pascarella earns conference player of the week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman forward Kara Pascarella was recently named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference MTXE Women’s Soccer Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Pascarella had a big day in the Lady Cavaliers 7-0 win over Barton Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs.  She fired four shots on goal in the game, all resulting in scores. Pascerella also assisted on the team’s final goal, giving her nine points on the day.  Her four goals tie the third-best effort in team postseason history.

Pascarella is the Johnson County’s first field player to be selected player of the week this season.  Freshman goalkeeper Vanessa Silva was honored as top goalkeeper in weeks three and six.

Johnson County is headed to Topeka, Kan., for the semifinals and final of the Region VI Tournament. The Lady Cavaliers face No. 6 seed Coffeyville Community College tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. The winner will face the winner of the other semifinal featuring Butler Community College and Cloud County Community College on Friday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m.
