OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team had a busy weekend, playing Friday and Saturday in Quincey, Ill, and at home on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Cavaliers went 2-1 in those three games and now stand 11-2 on the season.

JCCC began the weekend with a 96-56 win over host John Wood Community College. The Lady Cavaliers trailed by one points at the end of the first quarter, but took control in the second and third quarters and blew the game wide out with a 30-5 run in the fourth quarter.

Four players finished in double figures led by freshman Jacionna Stowers 20-point effort. On Saturday afternoon, Johnson County nearly rallied to pull out a victory over Moberly Area Community College. Trailing by 17 points entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Cavaliers outscored the Greyounds 24-to-11, but that wasn’t enough, as JCCC lost for just the second time this season, 64-60.

Stowers was again the top scorer with 21 points. She hit six more 3-pointers and was a perfect 3-of-3 at the line. McFeders was the only other Lady Cavaliers in double figures with 13.

Stowers continued her stellar weekend play by leading Johnson County to an 88-50 win over Missouri Valley College JV on Sunday. For third straight game she knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points. Reeves followed with 16 points. McFeders and Elston each had 14 and freshman Juella Brown chipped in 11 points.
