Volleyball - JCCC sweeps Allen

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For first time this season, the Johnson County Community College volleyball team faced a non-ranked opponent. The result – a 3-0 sweep over Allen Community College on Wednesday at the JCCC Gymnasium.

The Lady Cavaliers took the first set by a score of 25-8, tying the eighth-largest margin of victory in team history. They followed with wins of 25-13 and 25-19 to close out the match.

Sophomore Katrina Aliano was one of top hitters in the match, hitting .462 with a team-high seven kills. Freshman Anna Hester hit .600 with four kills, and sophomore Meghan Tauke added six kills.

Freshman Torey Burkhardt was the top defensive player registering 14 kills, and freshman setter Jade Askren dished out 23 assists.

The Lady Cavaliers are back on the court Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m., against No. 6-ranked Coffeyville Community College.
