W. Soccer - JCCC stunned as season ends with double OT loss to Coffeyville

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – To say that the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer program has dominated the series with Coffeyville Community College would be an understatement. Entering their match in the semifinals of the Region VI Tournament yesterday, the Cavaliers stood 15-0-1 all-time against the Ravens and had outscored them 69-to-1.

In the 104th minute in the second overtime period, Coffeyville got its second goal ever, stunning the 17th ranked Cavaliers to advance to the Region VI title game for the first time in their history.  Gabriela Rodrigues scored off a free kick to give her team the win. It was their only shot on goal in the game. The Cavaliers fired 14 shots with six on goal.

With the loss, Johnson County’s season comes to an end, and finish with a 15-5-0 record.
