Cross Country - JCCC opens season at Maple Leaf Invitational

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The final cross country season for the Johnson County Community College women’s and men’s teams got underway on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Maple Leaf Invitational hosted by Baker University. Both teams had a runner finish in the top 10. The Lady Cavaliers ran only four runners so they did not figure in the team scoring. The men ran a full team and finished fifth overall.

Sophomore Yulissa DelaTorre led the women’s team, placing sixth out of 84 runners. She completed the 4k course in 16:06.90.

Sophomore Jessalyn Rivet-Tisssot raced to a 20th place finish with a time of 16:29.90. JCCC’s other two runners were freshmen Emma Stimatze (59th-18:24.60) and Maikayla Lisher (81st-22:45.33).

Sophomore Sam Hengeli led the men’s team, placing sixth out of 85 competitors. He finished the 5k course in 16:35.26.

Sophomore and 2016 team MVP Kyle McRoberts raced to a 15th place finish with a time of 17:05.48. Rounding out the team were sophomore Souleymane Adam (24th-17:24.32), sophomore Brendan McRoberts (39th-17:54.24) and freshman Trey Seaba (49th-18:05.19).
